Effectiveness of water pressure method in colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection by novice endoscopists

چکیده
Background and Aims: Colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) remains challenging for novice endoscopists. Not only underwater conditions but using active water pressure, pressure method (WPM) can help widen the layer. This study aimed to clarify usefulness of WPM in colorectal ESD, especially Methods: was ex vivo study, which enrolled three novices. Each endoscopist performed conventional ESD (C-ESD) with (WPM-ESD) 10 times on excised bovine rectum. The treatment outcomes were compared between two groups. Results: Median procedure time significantly shorter WPM-ESD group than C-ESD (54 [interquartile range {IQR}, 42–67] vs. 45 [IQR, 34–55] min, p = 0.035). Although no significant difference activation electrical surgical unit (ESU) during noted, interval at ESU not activated (52 40–65] 42 32–52] 0.030) group. Moreover, required endoscope enter submucosa (8.0 6.0–10] 5.0 3.0–6.0] < 0.001). Conclusion: present reveals that shortens refers spent creating field view, submucosa.

Current practices in endoscopic submucosal dissection for colorectal neoplasms: a survey of indications among Korean endoscopists
BACKGROUND/AIMS The indications for colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) vary in clinical practice. To establish colorectal ESD as a standard treatment, standard indications are essential. For establishing standard indications for colorectal ESD, we surveyed the preferences and criteria of endoscopists for colorectal ESD in their practices. METHODS A multiple-choice questionnaire...
متن کاملEndoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) in Colorectal Tumors
BACKGROUND Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is accepted as a minimally invasive treatment for early gastric cancer, however, it is not widely used in the colorectum because of its technical difficulty. OBJECTIVE To determine the feasibility of using ESD for treating large superficial colorectal tumors. PATIENTS A total of 400 consecutive patients were treated by ESD for 405 lesions at...
متن کاملClinical effectiveness of the pocket-creation method for colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection
Background and study aims Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a technically advanced procedure for colorectal tumors. Hayashi et al. invented the "pocket-creation method (PCM)," and reported that Is-type lesions with fibrosis could be efficaciously and safely resected. However, only case studies have been published, and there are no previous reports on the usefulness of PCM in colorectal...
متن کاملEndoscopic submucosal dissection for colorectal tumors.
BACKGROUND Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a state-of-the-art method that enables resection of larger tumors than those resectable by conventional endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR). However, the individual role of each method in the treatment of colorectal tumors remains undetermined. OBJECTIVE AND METHODS To consider the respective indications of ESD and EMR for colorectal tumors,...
متن کاملJGES guidelines for colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection/endoscopic mucosal resection.
Colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has become common in recent years. Suitable lesions for endoscopic treatment include not only early colorectal carcinomas but also many types of precarcinomatous adenomas. It is important to establish practical guidelines in which the preoperative diagnosis of colorectal neoplasia and the selection of endoscopic treatment procedures are properly...
